on his thoughts
of the game and areas the team need improvement…
Personally
speaking, I think the boys did very well and have showed so much more
commitment and dedication going into the season. The enthusiasm is felt and we
are all gelling in very well. Every match that passes by, we are seeing every
player kicking in with their speciality. And I am sure this season we are going
to see a lot of unforgettable contributions from most players! I am looking
forward to being a spectator and watching the performance all the boys and the
evolution of WFCC as it reaches greater heights and its true potential.
on his
performance…
As
for my own performance, it was definitely a good confidence booster and I hope
everyone makes the most of these friendly's and group matches to get their
confidence up so that when it does come to the crunch matches, we are all
confident about our abilities and how to best use it to make the winning
contribution.
on pacing his
innings after the team lost early wickets, 21/2 with NRR less than run a ball…
To
be very honest, I personally just wanted to practice the basics as I have told
anyone who goes to bat, (as advised by Jalal at nets), don't give the bowler a
chance to bowl you out, so block and play safe for the ones coming into the
wicket, and make the most of the ones that are not in line of the stumps as
there will be many. And this is exactly what I did, which worked and I'm glad
it did. And I'm glad that the partners who played with me equally contributed
with the run rate. The openers started very well and it was a shame that they
got out as Tim and Atiq were definitely middling the ball. Anu was very unlucky
to miss out on a slow full-toss, but Amit and Yameen, very good contribution
towards to the middle of the innings, and well done with the boys towards the
end to get the score up to a challenging total of 177 which helped the bowlers
do their job with a bit more ease. But again, Yameen and Amit, well bowled and
I hope everyone else gets in there with the wicket taking and tight spells.
Looking forward to many more innings and that first ton hopefully this season.
