Amit - Batting as straight as possible should be the order of the play

Anam Arafat Amit was interviewed after the win against Bath Ventuerers. You can read a full transcript of his interview below:

on his thoughts of the game and areas the team need improvement…
I think it was a good practice. We need to be proactive with the field settings and fielding. As per bowling is concerned whenever we have little overcast condition a good line length bowling should be good enough.

on the key element about his batting…
Batting as straight as possible should be the order of the play. Overall, I think I could have contributed little more with the bat.

on his bowling…
Bowling will improve as we go deep in the season.

Shehan - The enthusiasm is felt and we are all gelling in very well

Shehan Somaratne was interviewed after the win against Bath Ventuerers. You can read a full transcript of his interview below:

on his thoughts of the game and areas the team need improvement…
Personally speaking, I think the boys did very well and have showed so much more commitment and dedication going into the season. The enthusiasm is felt and we are all gelling in very well. Every match that passes by, we are seeing every player kicking in with their speciality. And I am sure this season we are going to see a lot of unforgettable contributions from most players! I am looking forward to being a spectator and watching the performance all the boys and the evolution of WFCC as it reaches greater heights and its true potential.

Jude - We will learn from this for the next one

Man of the match Jude Mudannayke was interviewed after the Sunday’s defeat against Bristol Malayalees. You can read a full transcript of his interview below:

on his thoughts about the game…
The game as a whole I feel was a good one for the team. We started quite poorly with both openers dismissed for 0 but I think Saad, Yameen and myself held the batting together well and managed to dig ourselves out of a hole. Unfortunately one of us couldn't go on and bat the 40 overs.

on his game plan when batting at No.3…
The thing is when you bat at no.3 you need to be prepared for all situations; the team could be 0/1 for or 100/1 it is about adapting to the situation. If you look at the best number 3s around the world they do that very well. Today when I walked in it was case of stringing partnerships and breaking down 40 overs into small segments. Setting small targets and achieving them along the way for a big score.

Friendly (40 over): WFCC vs Bristol Malayalees, Match Report & Scorecard

Bristol Malayalees (183 for 8) beat Western Flyers (182 all-out) by 2 wickets.

The opposition termed it a pre-season warm up however for WFCC it was the official kick off to the 2015 summer of cricket! Cold, wet and windy weather doesn’t suggest summery conditions although such conditions have become the norm for every season opener at this time of year.

The toss
Shehan Somaratna skippered in the absence of Club Captain Atiqur Rahman. It wasn’t clear who actually won the toss; it seemed WFCC were offered the chance to bat first given the lateness of one player which was then followed by the actual toss which one can assume was won by the BMCC skipper who decided to field.
